                                                Intro

Hey guys this is Justice and we’re here today on society chat to discuss stereotypes, are they good or bad and are they necessary or not. For those who don’t know stereotype is a stereotype is a simplified idea of a particular type of person or thing.

In our society today anybody or anything has a stereo type whether it be a man standing in front of a corner store, or a Caucasian woman with blonde hair everything seems to be labeled in some sort of way. In my opinion I believe stereo types shouldn’t be taken seriously because you can’t judge a book by its cover, you really don’t know a person until you’ve met them personally but I understand that a person’s brain will automatically make the quick call and make judgements as soon as you see a person.

Some say Stereotypes ruin our society and are causes to the following bullying, low self-esteem, and people just not behaving like themselves. One reason I myself don’t like stereotypes is because often people will get the wrong idea of you. For example, if you see an African American male standing outside of a store what do you immediately think? He sells drugs right? But what if he’s just waiting for a ride? Or the multiple other possibilities not all African Americans are delinquents that sell drugs, steal, and fight all the time. Not all Asian people are super smart I know a few myself that make some poor decisions and have terrible grades no disrespect but you get my point. When you stereo type a person you unknowingly slap a label on a person that some may feel they may have to live up to.

Outro

Others say that stereotypes are necessary and not meant to be taken in racist or harmful manner. One advantage of stereotyping is that it allows people to respond quickly to a situation because they might’ve experience something similar in their life. Stereotypes are also important because by not immediately judging someone you become ignorant of what might happen and may ultimately bring harm to you.
